News of a shark attack that left a man dead in his home in the Indian state of Kerala has brought international attention to the state.
But it has been months since the tragic death of Dr Vyas, an ophthalmic surgeon.
Dr Vyans brother-in-law, Sudhakar, said the man was shot by a group of four men who approached him and threatened to kill him.
They then left the house, but the family went to the nearby beach and called for help, he said.
Sudhakar said his brother- in-law had been a patient at the local clinic and was a regular visitor to the clinic.
But on February 22, they were attacked by four men.
He said his sister, who was home, saw the attackers approaching.
When the police arrived, the assailants ran away.
He managed to call the hospital and lodged a complaint, but he said it took almost two weeks for a response.
He was unable to trace his brother and the family did not get any help.
He told the Times of India that he did not know whether Dr Vyshakar’s wife had any relatives in the area, and that the family was worried about her safety.
