Medical staff at an Orange County Ophthalmology and Neurological Surgery clinic were called to a shooting at a home Thursday evening, officials said.
The shooter was a patient at the clinic, according to OCOS Director of Communications Dan Kline.
The shooting happened on the third floor of the facility, which is on the second floor of an apartment complex.
The suspect is described as being in his late 20s to early 30s, possibly in his 50s, and wearing a red, gray or black hoodie, Kline said.
The suspect was taken to a hospital where he was in stable condition, Klines said.
The Ophthalmology and Neurologic Surgery Center has a history of serious shootings, including one last year that left four people dead.
The clinic is one of the largest in Orange County, and its patients range from newborns to adults with serious diseases.
The clinic was closed as a precaution for the safety of staff, but will reopen as soon as it is safe to reopen, Klin said.
No other injuries were reported.
The shooter was not identified.
